It all began in 1912, just five years after Oklahoma’s statehood, when William C. Morrison started his entrepreneurial ventures with his own glass water bottle service company, aptly named, Morrison Bottled Water. The company was based in downtown Oklahoma City in the historical Film Row district, just west of the City Center. By 1930, the company, now known as Morrison Fountain Supply, expanded into restaurant packaging provisions, such as napkins, straws, and cups that were delivered by a growing fleet of company trucks to area restaurants, soda fountains, and delis.
Throughout the 1940s and ‘50s, Bill, Jack, Robert and Ken, sons of William C. Morrison, joined and succeeded their father in the family business. Together, they became the largest distributor of Coca-Cola Syrup in Oklahoma. In 1963, they then purchased the industrial division of one of the largest food distributorships in the state, Ozmund Foods, but later sold a portion of it to concentrate on paper disposable packaging products as the Morrison Paper Company. Throughout the 1970s and ‘80s, under the leadership of Bob and Dan, sons of Robert Morrison, the company broadened their product lines a few more times, even becoming a licensed Coca-Cola distributor.
In 1991, Bob and Dan Morrison decided to leave the highly competitive generic disposables market, shifting the company’s focus to sell only branded products as they had been chosen by BP Amoco’s Convenience Store division to manage all distribution of branded products (ie: cups, bags, mugs, etc.) for Amoco’s company-owned stores. And with this, the company’s distribution went from regional to national for the first time as The Morrison Group (TMG). Once other oil companies learned of TMG’s ability to distribute branded product, several followed suit and TMG quickly became a recognized and trusted partner to the C-Store industry.
In 2012, Ryan, son of Dan Morrison, joined the family business after a decade in various corporate roles. In 2016, Ryan Morrison took over as President and with the help of his wife, Valerie Morrison, Chief Operations & Finance Officer, acquired Creative Container, Inc., which created even more opportunity to expand further into custom printing. The synergy has fostered more control and thus better service to our growing customer base of business owners, convenience store chains and national food and beverage service distributors. And yes, that is four generations of expertise at your service!
